Sights Due to its rich history the city has lots of things to see.
The date of birth of Yekaterinburg is considered in 1723, when came into operation a plant Crude steel.
• The main factory building - «Plotinka» on Iset River - keep up to date, and today is the Sites of the city. The preserved building is included in the Museum of the History of Architecture and Industrial Technology Urals - one of the most interesting museums in Russia.
• Church on the Blood - built in 2003 at the site of the execution of Tsar Nicholas II and his family.
• QWERTY Monument, (On the river bank near metro station ploshad' 1905 goda. ). Easily one of Russia's weirdest attractions is the gargantuan keyboard monument in this city. Big white stones rise from the earth, and as you approach, you see engraved upon them, words like "Q" and "SHIFT. "
Transport Yekaterinburg, still called by its Soviet name Sverdlovsk in rail timetables, is an important railway junction on the Trans-Siberian Railway, with lines radiating to all parts of the Urals and the rest of Russia. As the economy grew stronger after the slump of the 1990s, several European airlines started or resumed flying to the city's Koltsovo International Airport (SVX). These include Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, Malйv, Austrian Airlines, Czech Airlines and Finnair.
Yekaterinburg is also served by the smaller Yekaterinburg Aramil Airport.
You may also rent all types of cars and buses.
Yekaterinburg's public transit network includes the Yekaterinburg Metro which was opened in 1991, and many streetcar (tram), bus, trolleybus, and Marshrutka routes.

Jekaterinburg (, ; 1924–1991 Swerdlowsk (Свердловск)) ist eine wichtige Industrie- und Universitätsstadt am Uralgebirge in Russland mit rund 1. 332. 264 Einwohnern (Stand: 2009). Jekaterinburg liegt am Fluss Isset nur knapp 40 Kilometer östlich der imaginären Trennlinie zwischen Europa und Asien, welche im Westen bei der Stadt Perwouralsk verläuft. An dieser Stelle steht eine Europa-Asien-Säule. Die natürliche Grenze wird vom Ural gebildet. Der Zeitunterschied zu Moskau beträgt zwei Stunden und zu Mitteleuropa vier Stunden.

Nach Moskau, Sankt Petersburg und Nowosibirsk ist Jekaterinburg die viertgrößte Stadt und Zentrum der drittwichtigsten Region Russlands. In der Stadt haben sich mehrere Generalkonsulate niedergelassen, darunter ein US-amerikanisches, ein tschechisches und ein britisches. Seit dem Sommer 2005 gibt es in der Stadt auch ein deutsches Generalkonsulat.
